Batman 2 cover by INKIST Batman 2 cover by INKIST
This is almost 2 years old, but a good iconic shot of the Batman penciled by Jim Lee and inked by me. I think the pencils were a little tighter on this one than what I've been getting from Jim lately. Brush and pen work.

I thought this was just too cool not to color.  Been using it as my warm up for my daily color work.  You can see my paints/colors on it here: jeremycolwell.deviantart.com/a… and the wips on my facebook here: www.facebook.com/jeremy.colwel… if you are interested. Thanks, Scott, for putting up such great work for us to play with and continuing to raise the bar on what comic art should look like.  As a lax inker, you've inspired me many times.

Is an stupis question but, as inker you can use white brush for little details?
I'm about to try ink some drawings and i wanted to be sure :)

Not a stupid question, but if you are asking if you can brush on white paint to make little details, the answer is yes! I do it all the time. Anything it takes to create the desired effect is fine!

isn't this the same piece that a bunch of different inkers did for some charity? It was interesting to see just how much an inker can alter a piece of work without changing it. Great Work, Scott.

Yup, this is the one. Those types of experiments are always fun because as you saw, the differences in approach by each ink artist was profound. Thanks for the kind words!

Does tighter pencils make it tougher or easier for you? Does it indicate that Jim had something very specific in mind?

I love this piece; very iconic indeed!

Oh, it definitely makes it easier, but it also limits how much I can extemporize and do my own thing. And I think Jim was tighter with this because frankly he had more time to do it than usual!
