Deviation Actions
I decided to do something different this year for Comic-con folks. I'm putting a book out that shows my take inking over some of the best comic artists on the planet, and I am displaying a few samples here. I took a crack at Neal Adams, Joe Madureira, Bill Sienkiewicz, Jack Kirby, Frank Miller, Barry Windsor Smith and on and on. It was humbling, and I learned a lot! Come by and see me in Artist's Ally, check out the book and the originals (both of which will be on sale), and just say hi-don't be shy!
Speed inking demo
I got some requests to see the inking demo I gave at this years SDCC, so here it is posted up on YouTube [link] . I inked a panel from Superman #3, on sale today as a matter of fact, and penciled by Jim Lee.
You'll see that I compressed about 45 minutes in real time down to about 3 minutes, but there are bits and pieces shown in real time. It was all inked with a brush just to speed up the process a bit. Let me know what you think...
SDCC--Inking demo anyone?
So I'll be at my 30th straight SDCC this weekend, which is just ridiculous when I think about it. Anyway, I will be on a panel with the Superman Unchained crew (Scott Snyder, Jim Lee, Alex Sinclair, Dustin Nguyen and myself) on Friday at 4:15 where I'll have an inking demo taking a Jim Lee pencil panel from beginning to completion. Should be fun, and I look forward to seeing some of you there. And come see me in Artist's Alley at CC 24.
Inking with markers? Opinions!
So I'm thinking of doing a little experimenting with some different ink tools. Nothing radical, and I will never give up my favorite old school brushes and nibs, but I want to play around with some of the markers available today (the nib pens in particular, not the brush pens), just to add to my repertoire, explore the possibilities and add some more variety to my line.
I've used Pigma Microns before, and know what I'm getting with them. They flow pretty well but are not super waterproof, and they fade pretty badly when erased so it's kind of a mixed bag. I hesitate to use them for professional work.
The other two types I'm looking at ar
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Just wanted to wish all my Deviant friends the Merriest of Christmas's and a wonderful New Year! I have not been very active on DA this year, but I will try and turn that around in 2013. I also hope to read about and see lots of deviations from all of you soon!
